Booked my Toyota Avensis in for a service and was given a price of £250, I asked them to replace a tyre and got a phone call saying I need 3 tyres and they could fit them for me for £700 (when I baulked at the price I was told "we can help you with that") and they went on to tell me how bad my brakes were and that they could replace them for me for a further £500.

I collected my car ( after being told it was ready and then spending half an hour waiting because nobody had bothered to do my invoice) without having the tyres or the brakes done,

There was a notice on the passenger seat when I picked up my car saying it had been valeted which it clearly had not, even though all the boxes on the list were ticked.

The Nissan Micra courtesy car they gave me was in desperate need of a service itself, mis firing etc it was awful.

I put in a complaint and received a call from the service department who told me they always quote the cheapest price they can for tyres, I explained that was just untrue because when I queried the price they were immediately willing to ("help me")by lowering it.

I took my car to another garage where I found my brakes only needed the pads replacing and I had 4 branded tyres fitted at a total cost of £400.

I would never go to Sturgess again and strongly advise anyone else to avoid them unless you have very deep pockets.

Shoddy customer care and an awful experience.

Paid Sturgess £17k for a car that has been inspected by the garage, described as "as good as you'll get". The day before collection was due, after changing insurance, and booking train tickets to get to Leicester, was told vehicle was not in a saleable condition. Moreover there was resistance to the idea that they had an obligation to source an alternative. Having escalated the matter to the ma
