AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!! Just avoid and save yourself a load of time, money and stress!!!! I brought a car from Family cars after checking it out online, all seemed good and no problems were described. I traveled up from Devon to collect the car and had a test drive and despite some sticky gear changes I was assured all was OK ( I should have just walked away). The car was sold with a warranty but instructions of what this warranty was or who it was with was never explained properly (when I started experiencing problems I was interrogated as to why I had not activated the warranty, the reason being that letter Family cars had sent out with the information and didn't pay enough postage. It arrived at the sorting office 2 weeks later and I have to pay for the privilege). I was happy with the car at first but after 20 minuets on the drive home (yes 20 minuets !!!!) the car started blowing large plumes of white smoke and was very hot, I checked the oil to find it had been overfilled by what I would later discover was an additional 1L. I pulled over and call Family Cars who were then closed, after calling my trusted mechanic he reassured me that the car should be able to make it home. The car continued to blow smoke when going downhill or when idling in traffic. I called Family cars the following day to report the problem and told them I was going to take some oil out as it could be causing damage to the engine. After taking a litre of oil out, the car still blew white smoke, after closer inspection I found that there was a large amount of oil in the air intake system and appeared to be diesel fuel around the base of the fuel injectors. I phone again to confirm that the problem was still present and spoke to Steve (the owner) having spoken to Jack the day previous, Steve challenged me on the problem that I had been having. I recently bought a car from family cars and i can highly recommend them. I spoke to jack over the phone and he was happy to give all the details of the car that I asked for and said that it would be ready to drive away when I came to view. Car was a nightmare with many problems and was not fixed by their dodgy repairs. They were horrible to deal with and I wish I could take the time back! The are dodgy through and through and used intimidation and avoid
