Unfortunately, this was one of the most difficult experiences I’ve had dealing with a car dealership, particularly over what should have been a straightforward £500 deposit refund.
We paid a £500 deposit for a vehicle, but the purchase ultimately did not proceed. We made numerous attempts to resolve the matter directly, repeatedly emailing the dealership and asking for our deposit to be returned.
Despite these repeated attempts, the refund was not straightforward. We were told that we would have to go and collect the money in person, despite the deposit having been paid electronically rather than in cash.
We were also presented with a non-disparagement agreement, with the return of our deposit being made conditional upon agreeing to those terms. We were not prepared to sign an agreement restricting what we could say simply in order to receive our own money back.
