We all know that cars sometimes break down, but just imagine yourself in the situation where you have bought a vehicle in good faith and it develops a serious transmission fault within days of acquiring it, rendering it undriveable within a fortnight.
You get it to a local service centre (as instructed by the dealer) who discover no oil in the gearbox, which they say is beyond repair. They can fit a replacement gearbox (new or reconditioned) within a fortnight: However, you are eventually told by the vendor's warranty company to get the vehicle transported 70 miles to a preferred service centre, for 'repair'.
Having had the vehicle transferred (using your own personal recovery insurance) you are then told the gearbox is beyond repair and will have to be replaced (which you knew already) and that a reconditioned one would be ordered and fitted.
On reflection you wonder why this fault was not picked up during the '150 point pre-delivery inspection/service' or most recent MOT test. On investigation, you
