Avoid like the plague.
If you are lucky enough to have no problems with a car bought from a used car dealership, a glowing review is meaningless.
How you are treated by that dealership when there is a problem, is more relevant.
Needless to say, having had a serious problem with our car shortly after purchase, Howard Johnston Cars' response was sadly lacking.
Without going into great detail of the horrendous experience we had with Howard Johnston Cars, I would simply strongly recommend that, should you buy a car from them, you educate yourself on the detail of the Consumer Rights Act 2014.
Howard Johnston Cars will argue that your legal advice (obtained from the Citizens Advice Bureau Legal Department) is incorrect.
They will dig their heels in and hope that you will run out of steam and just go away.
We did not go away. However, it took a lot of determination and submission of paperwork for commencement of legal action, before Howard Johnston Cars were prepared to comply with the law and refund our money.
